Apple introduces a new Email app in iOS 18.2

This app brings new features like email categorization, a new notes layer, contact photos or business logos for conversations, a new system for organizing emails, and much more.

One of the most interesting features in the new Mail app is categorization, which groups your emails into several categories: Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions.

In theory, this sounds great because it can make your inbox tidier, and the Primary tab will contain all the important stuff.

Apple understands that not everyone likes categorization, so they provide an easy way to turn off this feature.

Just click the three dots in the top right corner of the inbox, and you can switch from Categories to List View. This will give you an "All Emails" experience while still retaining the profile pictures and other design elements from the new Mail app.

This setting can also be applied per inbox, so if you want to have categorization in all inboxes but a list view in others, you can do that too!

Apple already has Priority Notifications in the Mail app, which are much more effective in quickly highlighting what’s important. This feature requires devices that support Apple Intelligence (like iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, iPad mini 7, and newer Macs/iPads).

Apple will soon bring Priority Notifications to all devices that support Apple Intelligence in the upcoming iOS 18 release, so you can see what’s most important across all apps, not just in email.
