US Says Mangga Dua is a Hotspot for Counterfeit Goods in Indonesia
The United States government highlights the existence of a center for selling counterfeit and fake (pirated) goods in Mangga Dua Market, North Jakarta.

They say that selling pirated goods can hinder trade relations between the two countries.

The 2025 National Trade Estimation Report on Foreign Trade Barriers released by the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) places Mangga Dua Market back on the priority watch list. Additionally, it is included in the 2024 Special 301 Report on Counterfeiting and Piracy, alongside several online platforms in Indonesia.
Although the Indonesian government has made significant efforts to strengthen the protection and enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), American businesses still feel concerned about this issue.
USTR argues that the still-weak enforcement of IPR in Indonesia is a major problem, and they urge Indonesia to optimize the IPR enforcement task force so that collaboration among relevant agencies and ministries in law enforcement can be stronger.
