BAKI-DOU Netflix: Baki vs Miyamoto Musashi, A New Battle in 2026
Netflix adds another action title to its adrenaline-fueled anime lineup: BAKI-DOU.

This time the series presents an unexpected twist not just prehistoric monsters or muscle giants, but the resurrection of the most famous samurai from the 17th century: Miyamoto Musashi. The premise immediately raises a big question: can modern fighters, including Baki himself, match the technique and discipline of a sword legend?
After the major climax that brought together Baki and his father, Yujiro, a duel that has been called one of the most epic fights, many fighters in the series feel a lack of challenge. Bored with his opponents, a secret experiment is conducted to bring Musashi back in the current era. Interestingly, the warrior’s resurrection happens far beneath the city surface: 364 meters below Tokyo Skytree, and the samurai appears with unmatched speed and sword skills.
If this premise feels like deja vu, it is understandable since Baki once faced a similar threat in a previous series when a prehistoric creature named Pickle appeared in modern times causing great chaos, even defeating Baki. However, the difference is Pickle is a brutal force relying on roughness and primal instinct. Musashi offers the complete opposite: refined fighting art, mature tactics, and honed sword techniques. So even though the threat is not the wild savagery of Pickle (no need to worry about a ‘being eaten’ incident this time), Musashi brings a more orderly and strategically dangerous kind of threat.
This series is adapted from the manga of the same name by Keisuke Itagaki, serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion between 2014–2018. Like other Baki series, the story focuses on the journey of the eponymous protagonist who continually hones his fighting skills to overcome the greatest challenge: defeating Yujiro, the man known as the strongest in the world.
For fans eagerly awaiting new action, BAKI-DOU is scheduled to air on Netflix in 2026.
