Latest Leak Shows Redesigned Pikachu in Pokémon Wind and Wave
Game Freak is reportedly redesigning Pokémon models for Pokémon Wind and Wave, including Pikachu and Charizard. The latest leak reveals design changes and significant graphical improvements in the 10th generation of Pokémon.

A new leak claiming to originate from Game Freak’s development data has resurfaced, showing changes in the appearance of several Pokémon models for the title rumored to be Pokémon Wind and Wave. A series of renders and 3D models shared by leaker accounts display new versions of the franchise’s faces—including Pikachu and Charizard—that look different from the versions seen since the Sword and Shield era.
For Pikachu, the circulating renders show a slightly rounder shape with softer lines. Many fans say this version resembles concept art illustrations, collectible cards, or designs for the anime series—a style that feels more “illustrative” than the usual in-game models. Since the leaked material appears to still be in development, there is a possibility that the design is not final.
Meanwhile, Charizard’s appearance is only seen through a rough 3D model without color textures. Although uncolored, proportional changes are visible: the horns look longer and the face slimmer compared to the version we have known recently. Other models appearing in the leak—such as Machamp and the suspected Seaking—also appear half-finished or only partially designed, but show a similar pattern of visual updates.
A comprehensive overhaul of the entire Pokémon roster is rare because it requires significant resources. Game Freak itself has stated difficulties in including all monsters during major redesigns. Some fans consider this new look merely a reuse of old assets; others remind that design updates are often subtle and not immediately visible from 3D frameworks without textures or final coloring.
Besides the models, the leak also touches on gameplay and technology aspects. According to the leakers, Wind and Wave is rumored to feature survival elements with procedurally generated islands, allowing exploration of dense forests and deeper seas. Early screenshots circulating, if true, show lush green environments and scattered wild creatures—giving a different vibe while not completely abandoning the experience from Scarlet and Violet.
The leak also mentions that Game Freak is using a new engine, so this title is claimed to bring graphical improvements—and reportedly will not be limited by the capabilities of the first-generation Nintendo Switch. Besides Wind and Wave, the leak documents called “teraleak 2.0” indicate several other projects, including a multi-region title combining areas from previous games, as well as Pokémon Legends: Galar, said to be inspired by Xenoblade Chronicles X, set about 1,000 years ago, and featuring journeys with large monster packs.
It should be noted that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have never confirmed the authenticity of this leak. Previously, the Japanese company filed a subpoena regarding the first “teraleak”, so the details currently circulating may change or be canceled before an official announcement. With several titles claimed to be released in the coming years, there is still room for Game Freak to change design direction and features.
In short: the leaked material shows efforts to update models—from changes in Pikachu’s proportions to a slimmer Charizard—and the potential for technical leaps and world design in the project associated with Wind and Wave. However, until there is an official announcement, all this information should be regarded as rumors that can change.
