How Nintendo Tackles Scalpers for Switch 2
Gamers who want to pre-order the Switch 2 console must be prepared to face various complicated requirements set by Nintendo.
Nintendo explains, to be able to pre-order, prospective buyers must have played a minimum of 50 hours on the original Switch console by April 2, 2025.
Additionally, there are other requirements, namely that they must have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for 12 months and give permission to access gameplay data. Later, once approved by Nintendo, prospective buyers will receive a notification email on May 8, 2025. Upon receiving the email, they will have 72 hours to purchase the latest console.
The same requirements apply to both the Japanese language console and the multilingual version. In some regions, like the UK, they require a minimum 2-year NSO subscription and that subscription must still be active during the pre-order process. For family users, only the subscriber can access the pre-order.
