The original Doraemon manga, written by the late duo Fujiko F. Fujio, began serialization in December 1969 in various children's magazines published by Shogakukan. A total of 46 tankobon volumes were published between 1974 and 1996 under the Tentoumushi Comics label. Volume 0 was also newly released last year in 2019.
Eiga Doraemon: Nobita no Esekai Monogatari is the 44th anime film in the Doraemon franchise and is part of the 45th-anniversary celebration. The first TV anime series of Doraemon aired since 1973, while the current one started airing from 2005.
This latest film follows the adventures of Doraemon, Nobita, and their friends as they explore a medieval fantasy world through a painting. There, they meet Claire and Milo from the country of Artoria, as well as a little demon named Chai. Together, they are ready to face a powerful enemy in order to obtain a legendary gem.
