Official Launch of Epic Web Shops: A New Way to Sell Game Content on Mobile & PC
Epic Web Shops are officially here! This new platform from Epic Games allows developers to sell game content directly to players on mobile and PC with Epic's payment system, Epic Rewards integration, and more profitable revenue sharing.

Epic announced the launch of Epic Web Shops, a new service that enables developers to sell in-game content directly to players on mobile and PC devices. Powered by the Epic Games Store infrastructure and large-scale e-commerce system, Web Shops are designed to give developers greater control over monetization without having to list their games on Epic.
What is Epic Web Shops?
Epic Web Shops is an online store that will appear as a “Web Shop” tab on product pages (PC and web), and will be natively available in the Epic Games Store mobile app later this year. After developers enable this feature through Epic’s self-publishing tools, players can purchase content directly from the Web Shop and use those purchases in the relevant game versions — including versions distributed via Epic, Google Play, and Apple App Store (in regions where allowed).
Availability & rules
- Web Shops are available globally for mobile games, with adjustments according to store redirect rules applicable in each country/region.
- This feature is immediately beneficial in the United States, where court orders have already allowed store redirects.
- On Android, Web Shops usage is expected to expand starting October 22, when a court ruling requiring Google Play to allow redirects takes effect.
First use case
Epic is partnering with Codename Entertainment, the pioneer of the first Web Shop launch for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms. This example demonstrates how purchases via Web Shop can be used across game variants (PC Epic, iOS, Android, and versions on Google Play and App Store in authorized regions).
Benefits for developers
- More profitable revenue sharing: developers can retain 100% of the first net revenue up to $1 million per title per year.
- Cross-platform reach: sell to players wherever they play without needing to list the game on Epic Games Store.
- Epic ecosystem integration: Web Shops use Epic’s payment system and connect with Epic account services — including Epic Rewards and Epic account balance (formerly “Wallet balance”), so players can pay using their balance (e.g., from Fortnite gift card redemptions previously announced by Epic).
Who can use it & how to get started
