From Software has not focused on making Elden Ring 2
Although the Elden Ring DLC was a huge success, From Software is still not thinking about making its sequel, Elden Ring 2.
The statement was made by its creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki, in an interview with IGN Japan while attending the Playstation Partner Awards 2024 in Japan on December 3, 2024.
Nonetheless, Miyazaki said he does not rule out the possibility of Elden Ring in the future, but perhaps in a different form; it could be as a new franchise or a different genre. It seems that, for now, From Software is more focused on several other game projects that are still confidential, and Elden Ring 2 is not one of them.
From Software's strong portfolio in Souls-themed games and also mechs like Armored Core has led many to speculate about the game projects they are currently working on.
Moreover, there has recently been information about job openings at the studio for the development of robot-based games, which has led many to guess that one of their projects is a new Armored Core.
With its reputation for creating notoriously difficult Souls games, there will surely be other games with a similar theme in the future. And with Miyazaki's statement about Elden Ring 2, it could be that From Software is preparing a new Souls franchise.
