This event is designed as a celebration with the concept of “created together with fans”. More than just an exhibition, GUNDAM-Con will feature various interactive experiences, exhibition zones, and the presence of creators involved in the Gundam series. Interestingly, after the first edition, the event is also planned to take place in other locations around the world.

One factor making this event even bigger is the consolidation of several previously separate world competitions in fields such as plamo, cards, and games. With this new format, fans can enjoy more content and activities in one place. Tickets will be sold via a pre-event lottery system.

In addition to GUNDAM-Con, Bandai Namco also introduced the “Gundam Landmark Concept”, a new initiative marking the plan to build a new Gundam facility in Japan. This facility aims to attract fans from around the world, though full details will be announced at a later date.

These steps show that Gundam is not just a legendary anime series but also a major brand continuously evolving across media and industries. Since Mobile Suit Gundam first aired on April 7, 1979, the franchise has produced more than 90 works in various formats.

Its popularity is also reflected in impressive business achievements. Gunpla has sold over 800 million units cumulatively, while the Gundam Card Game has issued over 630 million cards. Meanwhile, the game SD Gundam G Generation Eternal, released in 2025, has been downloaded over 8 million times worldwide within one year.

Through these various media, Gundam continues to build closeness with its fans around the globe. With the arrival of GUNDAM-Con and the planned new facility in Japan, 2027 looks set to be a significant moment in the franchise’s long journey.
