Kamen Rider Kabuto 20th: Ten wo Tsugu Mono Officially Announced – Premiere on November 6!
After two decades since it first aired, the Kamen Rider Kabuto series finally returns with a special film project to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The new film titled Kamen Rider Kabuto 20th: Ten wo Tsugu Mono (He Who Inherits the Sky) has been officially announced and will soon be screened in Japanese theaters.
This V-Cinext format film is planned to have a limited theatrical release starting November 6 at Shinjuku Wald 9 and several other cinemas. After that, Toei will release the Blu-ray and DVD versions on February 10, 2027. Additionally, a special edition bundled with the CSM Atlas Zecter—an exclusive collection for hardcore fans—will be available.
Along with the announcement, a teaser video and main visual have also been released to the public.
Background and Fan Campaign
The Kamen Rider Kabuto series originally aired from January 2006 to January 2007, telling the adventures of Souji Tendou—known as "the man who walks the sky and masters everything." The story centers on the battle between humanity and the Worm, extraterrestrial beings that can disguise themselves as humans, as well as ZECT, the secret organization formed to combat that threat.
This 20th-anniversary project was made possible thanks to the strong support from fans. Previously, in the "Kamen Rider Movie Project" voting campaign, Kamen Rider Kabuto achieved first place, surpassing other series. The title and logo Ten wo Tsugu Mono had previously appeared in that campaign and is now officially confirmed as the title of this new film.
Returning Cast
This film will bring back several legendary actors from the original series, including:
- Yuki Sato as Arata Kagami (Kamen Rider Gatack), a former ZECT member who is now a police officer.
- Hidenori Tokuyama as Sou Yaguruma (Kamen Rider TheBee), a former leader of the elite ZECT unit, Shadow.
- Kazuki Kato as Daisuke Kazama (Kamen Rider Drake), who now works as a makeup artist.
- Tomohisa Yuge as Masato Mishima, a ZECT executive who was thought to have died at the end of the series.
- Yoshiyuki Yamaguchi as Shuichi Tadokoro, a firm team leader at ZECT.
- Hakutaro Honda as Riku Kagami, former head of ZECT and Arata Kagami's father.
The return of these iconic characters is sure to bring back a sense of nostalgia while opening a new chapter that has never been told before.
Teaser Visual and New Conflict
In the released teaser visual, Kamen Rider Gatack stands alongside a mysterious white Kamen Rider, with a backdrop of skyscrapers in the Shibuya area. The accompanying tagline reads:
"Will humanity inherit the sky, or will it be the Worm?"
This sentence hints that the battle against the Worm, once thought to be over, has actually begun again.
The 15-second teaser video opens with Kabuto's signature pose—pointing to the sky. The brief clip also shows Arata Kagami, Sou Yaguruma, Daisuke Kazama, and Masato Mishima wearing new belts that have never been seen before. In addition to Kamen Rider Gatack, TheBee, Drake, and KickHopper, this film will also introduce two new original Kamen Riders.
Story Setting 20 Years Later
The story of this film is set 20 years after the events of the original TV series. The Masked Rider System developed by ZECT had once brought humanity to victory against the Worm. However, that victory was not the end of everything. Now, in a world where humans and Worm coexist, ZECT is operational again. A new Kamen Rider emerges, leaving one big question.
