Kadokawa Employees Respond Positively to Sony Acquisition
Sony's intention to acquire the Japanese anime company, Kadokawa, is becoming increasingly strong, and this move is not only welcomed positively by the business community—evidenced by the rise in Sony's stock—but also from an unexpected side. Many see this as a strategic move that could have a significant impact on the anime and entertainment industry as a whole.
It turns out that employees at the Japanese anime company that also holds the From Software license welcomed Sony's move positively; this is evident from an interview written on Yahoo Japan regarding the prospects of this acquisition.
According to a veteran employee at Kadokawa, they feel disappointed with the lack of action from the company's current CEO, Takeshi Natsuno, regarding the cyber attack that led to the leakage of their personal information some time ago.
Not only was there no action from the company regarding the data theft, but there was also no press conference to discuss the news; something they hope will change if a company as large as Sony takes over Kadokawa.
They also hope that Sony's first step will be to remove CEO Takeshi Natsuno, although there are concerns about changes to the company’s tradition which still has roots in creative freedom.
According to analysts, Sony will prioritize the development of new anime IP and strong gaming IP like those owned by From Software if they successfully take over Kadokawa; this means the business orientation and structure of the family-owned company will change in the future.
Currently, Sony has not yet provided further information regarding the steps taken to acquire the Japanese company, whether they will continue to pursue a partial purchase as previously reported.
