Towards Kamen Rider's 55th Anniversary: New Film Project Announced, 11 Heisei Era Series Ready to Compete!
The legendary Tokusatsu franchise, Kamen Rider, is preparing to celebrate a new milestone. Ahead of its 55th anniversary in 2026, a massive big-screen project titled "Kamen Rider Movie Project" has been officially confirmed.
What makes this announcement surprising is the concept behind it. Although a completely new big-screen film production is underway, the final title of the film has yet to be determined. The studio announced that 11 Kamen Rider series from the Heisei era have been selected as the main candidates. The fate of this film adaptation now rests in the hands of the fans, who are invited to cast their votes (voting) via the official Kamen Rider website to decide which title deserves to be made into a film.
The organizers promise that all details regarding the project’s mechanics and results will be fully disclosed on the 27th at noon.
11 Heisei Era Candidates with New Looks

As a marker of the start of this ambitious project, the eleven candidate titles are not only announced by name but also come with new logos and original subtitles that hint at their potential story premises.

Tradition of Grand Celebrations
Kamen Rider is indeed known for always going all out in celebrating its important anniversaries. This 55th project is expected to continue the success of previous celebrations.
Looking back at the 45th anniversary (2016), Toei released the film Kamen Rider 1, a nostalgic work directed by Osamu Kaneda. The film became a highlight for the return of legendary actor Hiroshi Fujioka, reprising his role as Takeshi Hongo.
Meanwhile, the recent 50th-anniversary celebration brought three varied giant projects:
- Shin Kamen Rider (2023): Written and directed by renowned creator Hideaki Anno.
- Kamen Rider BLACK SUN (2022): An adult reboot series on Amazon Prime Video starring Hidetoshi Nishijima and Tomoya Nakamura.
- FUUTO PI (2022): An animated sequel to Kamen Rider W that successfully aired on U-NEXT and Tokyo MX.
