Netflix officially announced plans to acquire the film, streaming, and video game division businesses of Warner Bros Discovery after the parent company approved the spin-off of the Discovery Global unit. The total transaction value is reported to reach $82.7 billion (equity value $72.0 billion), and the purchase process is planned to be completed after the spin-off — estimated in the third quarter of 2026 and no later than September 30, 2026.
If this deal materializes, Netflix will not only add Warner Bros’ legendary film and series library but also take over major game studios under the company’s umbrella. Developer names mentioned to change ownership include Rocksteady, NetherRealm, Avalanche, and TT Games — bringing Warner’s game IP and talent into the Netflix ecosystem.
