Netflix Releases Trailer for ONE PIECE Live-Action Season 2, Straw Hat Crew Faces Baroque Works
The official trailer and stills for Season 2 of the Netflix series 'ONE PIECE', set for global exclusive release from March 10th, have been released. It has also been announced that five members of the "Straw Hat crew," including Iñaki Godoy and Mackenyu, will visit Japan.
Based on the manga of the same name by Eiichiro Oda serialized in ‘Weekly Shonen Jump’ (Shueisha), this live-action adaptation is an epic nautical adventure following the “Straw Hat crew,” led by Monkey D. Luffy, as they set sail across the vast oceans in pursuit of the legendary treasure “One Piece” left behind by the “Pirate King,” Gol D. Roger. Season 2 will depict their grand adventure on the “Grand Line,” a sea that defies all common sense.
The “Grand Line,” the stage for Season 2, is a treacherous sea of raging climates, gathering of formidable figures, and creatures that overturn common sense. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), alongside his crewmates Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero), and Sanji (Taz Skylar)—each harboring their own grand dreams—will transform their bonds into strength as they embark on new, grand adventures. However, a baptism of power from the strong awaits them one after another. At the forefront is the secret criminal organization Baroque Works, which plots a “nefarious plan capable of engulfing an entire country.”
In the released official trailer, a host of rogue agents appear one after another. For a certain reason, the “Straw Hat crew” becomes their target, facing trials that even shake their bonds. To stop Baroque Works’ “plan,” the crew uses their bonds and friendship as weapons, plunging into fierce battles swirling with traps and intrigue.
During the harsh journey of this grand adventure, on the “winter island” of Drum Island, the crew meets Tony Tony Chopper (Mikaela Hoover), a reindeer whose trademarks are his fluffy appearance, hat, and blue nose. Though an excellent doctor, Chopper also carries a sorrowful past. In the footage, figures connected to his past, Dr. Hiriluk and Dr. Kureha, are briefly shown. What is the full story hidden within Chopper?
Furthermore, the footage not only shows Drum Island but also the various islands the crew visits on their voyage: “the town of beginnings and ends,” Loguetown; Reverse Mountain, “the mountain where four waterways merge”; Twin Cape, home to the giant whale Laboon; the “mysterious town” of Whisky Peak; and the island of Little Garden, home to prehistoric creatures and giants. The rampage of the giants Dorry and Broggy, who have been dueling for years on Little Garden, can also be seen.
Original creator and executive producer of the series, Eiichiro Oda, shared his passion for Season 2, which premieres in one month: “Together with the Hollywood superstaff who delivered a shining result, the Season 2 we are bringing you next charges into the Grand Line, the world’s strongest sea. Additionally, a world tour for the series will be held from February 23rd to March 14th, with events taking place in 13 locations worldwide, including Japan. It has also been decided that Iñaki Godoy (Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji) will visit Japan. This marks the first official visit to Japan with all members of the “Straw Hat crew” present. They are scheduled to participate in a preview screening and fan event in Tokyo on March 5th.
