NetherRealm officially stops creating new content for Mortal Kombat 1, including future DLC and story
NetherRealm Studio officially announces the cessation of new content creation for the game, including new story and DLC in the future.

This sad news was announced via a tweet on the official X account @MortalKombat. It mentioned that the studio will indeed no longer continue support for new content. But fortunately, technical support like bug fixes and balance adjustments—which are very important for competitive fighting games—will still be the studio’s focus. So, at least the game remains playable without serious disruptions.
This decision was actually made when many fans requested additional content for the fighting game. It seems the developer team prefers to focus on their latest game project.
Regarding rumors about the support ending, it has actually been gossip for a long time among fans. Many blamed the failure of Kombat Pack 2 and the Khaos Reigns expansion as the main triggers for this decision. As a result, the last DLC released for Mortal Kombat 1 was just the T-1000 Terminator, which came out last March. 😕
