Nintendo has just announced the Switch 2 through its official website. The 2 minute and 21 second trailer shows a side design that no longer uses rails, and the Joy-Cons connect to a magnetic system.

The Joy-Con also receives a new design, from size, comfort, how to attach, to its color which is now a matching black. The Switch 2 will also have a new dock, allowing the console to be charged and to output to a TV. Nintendo also announced that the Switch 2 can play games from the Switch 1, both physical and digital. There is also a demo of a new Mario Kart game in the trailer.

Nintendo also mentioned that they will hold hands-on events in various countries. More detailed information will be revealed in the Nintendo Direct scheduled for April 2, 2025.
