Nintendo Switch 2 Officially Launched! Available for Purchase June 2025
Finally, Nintendo announced that the Switch 2 console will start selling on June 5, 2025. Additionally, they introduced various features and specifications that we have only been able to speculate about from circulating rumors.
Nintendo did not provide details about the hardware used in their Direct presentation. But, it is certain that this console will have a 1080p 120 Hz display and HDR support. And the good news is, the rumors about 4K support for docked mode turned out to be true!
They also introduced the C button on Joy-Con 2. This new button will be used to access the GameChat feature, which can be used for voice calls, video calls, and sharing game screens. Oh, and Nintendo also released a new accessory, the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera, which can be used as a webcam in the GameChat feature.
The Switch 2 will have internal storage that is much larger, 8 times that of the first Switch, at 256GB. However, this time, the Switch 2 must use a special MicroSD Express to allow for faster data read access. Nintendo has also added a cooling fan in the dock, a feature that has long been awaited by Switch users.
Finally, the Joy-Con 2 can be used as a mouse. Nintendo said that several games will later be able to enjoy special features through this mouse mode.
