Nintendo has confirmed their plan to fight against Switch 2 scalpers
Nintendo's president confidently said that getting a Nintendo Switch 2 this Christmas will be easy.
Nintendo's president, Shuntaro Furukawa, mentioned that the company has a super easy way to fight against scalpers when the Nintendo Switch 2 launches, and this approach can be considered very clever.
We should also thank Chris Scullion from Video Game Chronicle for the initial info.
During a Q&A session with Nintendo's shareholders, Furukawa was asked whether the company had plans to tackle the efforts of scalpers wanting to resell the upcoming console.
Furukawa's response was very simple: they will produce Nintendo Switch 2 in large quantities, so there will always be stock available. This way, there won’t be an opportunity for scalpers to sell the console at a higher price.
So, if just making a lot of consoles is the solution, why was the Nintendo system previously a target for retailers?
According to Furukawa, it was due to factors beyond Nintendo's control, but now that situation will not be a problem anymore.
"Last year and the year before, we couldn't produce enough Nintendo Switch units due to a shortage of semiconductor components," explained Furukawa, "but now the situation has been resolved."
He even stated that the semiconductor shortage will not impact the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 (although it might use different components).
"Currently, we are not sure if the component shortage will significantly affect the production of the successor model," said Furukawa.
This Q&A session took place just a few weeks after Furukawa announced that the successor to the Nintendo Switch would be unveiled "within this fiscal year," so it's reasonable for his anti-scalper statement to potentially become a reality.
March 2025 will mark the end of "this fiscal year," so we won't have to wait long for the next update. Hopefully, this means the Nintendo Switch 2 will be easily available this Christmas next year.
