Nvidia and SoftBank have just introduced the world's first AI and 5G telecommunications network!
Leading chip company Nvidia, along with SoftBank Corp, a part of the SoftBank Group, has just conducted a trial of the world's first telecommunications network utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G. They announced this on Wednesday.
This network can handle both AI and 5G workloads simultaneously, referred to as an artificial intelligence radio access network (AI-RAN), according to both companies.
Some applications of this network include remote support for autonomous vehicles and robot control.
"All other telecommunications companies must follow this new trend," said SoftBank Group CEO Masayoshi Son at an AI event where he spoke with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.
Huang stated that SoftBank is the first to receive their latest Blackwell chip design, which is being integrated into an AI supercomputer currently being built to create their own generative AI models.
