Fan Petition Urges Netflix to Reveal Cut Scenes from Stranger Things

More than 280,000 people have signed a petition on Change.org demanding that footage and cut scenes from the fifth Stranger Things season — the series’ final season — be released to the public. This petition emerged as a reaction to the disappointment of some viewers regarding the format and content of the season finale.

The petition initiator, who wrote that the request is driven by the desire to “see unseen footage,” argues that there is still a lot of material not presented — either due to decisions by Netflix or the production team — despite the series being in production for over a decade. In their narrative, the initiator emphasizes that fans expect a strong legacy for Stranger Things, not a finale considered disappointing due to writing issues.

Signatories voiced their dissatisfaction with several aspects of the fifth season, citing discrepancies between hints, interviews with creators and cast, and what was ultimately aired. These complaints prompted an explicit request for cut scenes, interludes, and material that may still be in the production archives to be released or published as extras.

The fifth season of Stranger Things, set in the 1980s, was released in a split format across three volumes: Volume 1 debuted on Thanksgiving, Volume 2 was released on Christmas Day, and Volume 3 — a feature-length episode — is scheduled to air on Wednesday.
