Resident Evil 5 Remake Will Only Happen If Demand Reaches a Significant Level
Along with the high enthusiasm for Resident Evil Requiem (aka Resident Evil 9), many fans have begun to wonder about the direction of the next remake in Capcom's legendary horror franchise.
After the huge success with Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 Remakes, the logical next step indeed points to Resident Evil 5. However, it seems that project is not a priority at the moment.
According to information from a leaker and insider of Resident Evil, Dusk Golem, there is currently no Resident Evil 5 Remake project being worked on. Nevertheless, he added that this remake still has the potential to be realized with one main condition: fan demand must continue and reach a significant level. In other words, Capcom is still open to the possibility, but no concrete steps have been taken yet.
Instead, reports mention that Capcom is focusing on remakes of Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0. Dusk Golem even claimed that the Code Veronica project is “going very well,” partly because it is being handled by many teams who previously succeeded with the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Resident Evil 5 itself was first released in 2009 and is now approaching two decades old. Technically, this game can still be played on various modern platforms thanks to available ports. However, fans can only imagine how much more impressive the playing experience would be if the game were revived with the modern visual and gameplay quality of the latest Resident Evil remakes.
Will Capcom finally develop a Resident Evil 5 Remake? The answer depends on how strong the community’s desire is to see Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar back in action wrapped in the latest generation technology.
