SEGA says that ATLUS is one of the most successful acquisitions they have
Spending a lot of money to choose a developer who could be profitable in the future as an investment is clearly not an easy task.
Just a slight misstep could lead to significant losses. Especially if a developer who previously performed brilliantly suddenly plummets after being acquired. Fortunately, SEGA did not experience such a thing with their flagship developer, ATLUS. In fact, the opposite happened.
In a recent Q&A session with shareholders, SEGA gave high praise for ATLUS. With the success of many game series they launched, from Persona to Metaphor: ReFantazio, SEGA called ATLUS one of the most successful acquisitions they have ever made. SEGA also added that the combination of their capabilities as a publisher and the quality consistently demonstrated by ATLUS is the main factor for the success of Metaphor: ReFantazio.
SEGA successfully acquired ATLUS in 2013 after its parent company, Index Corporation, faced bankruptcy. So, what do you think? Do you agree with SEGA's statement?
