All Story Endings in Hollow Knight: Silksong and How to Unlock Them

Silksong offers several story ending paths — not just one. Below is a concise and structured guide for each ending discovered, complete with requirements, key steps, and important notes so you can pursue all ending variations in one or multiple playthroughs.

1. Normal Ending — Weaver Queen

Summary: This is the standard game ending.

Main requirements:

• Complete all main quests up to the mission Pharloom’s Crown — Threefold Melody.
• Access the Citadel peak and defeat Grandmother Silk.
• When the final dialogue appears, choose the Bind option.

Tip: After watching the ending scene, when loading your save file you will return to the last bench used — a state where the boss is still alive. This allows you to try other endings without restarting from the beginning.

2. Cursed Ending — Twisted Child

Summary: The cursed version adds a twist that changes the conditions of the final battle.

Main requirements:

• Obtain the Twisted Bud item in the Bilewater area.
• Bring the Twisted Bud to Greyroot in Shellwood (NPC involved in the Pollip Hearts quest).
• Accept the curse that prevents the use of healing bind and some silk spells while the curse is active.
• With the cursed status, defeat Grandmother Silk.
• After delivering the final blow, a special scene for the cursed ending will play.

Important notes:

• The battle becomes much more challenging because you cannot heal while the curse is active (except by using a bench before the fight).
• You can heal/remove the curse—but do so after obtaining the cursed ending, because once Hornet is free from the curse there will be no easy way to be cursed again unless you restart the game.

3. Silk and Soul Ending — Snared Silk (unlocks Act 3)

Summary: A secret ending that unlocks Act 3; requires clearing all bounty boards and special missions.

Main requirements:

• Complete all bounty board missions in every settlement (regular NPC missions are not mandatory).
• Rescue a number of Lost Fleas until the Flea Caravan moves to Putrefied Ducts.
• Complete the Silk and Soul mission chain, which requires collecting four items scattered across different locations.
• Defeat Grandmother Silk then choose the Needolin option at the end.
• After the credits, load your save file to start Act 3.

Note: Since this unlocks Act 3, additional story and content will be available after you reload.

4. True Ending / Act 3 — Sister of the Void

Summary: This is the ending accessible if you have entered Act 3 and completed the advanced main quest.

Main requirements:

• Start and follow Act 3 through the main quest (usually accessed after obtaining the Silk and Soul ending).
• Acquire new abilities and defeat several bosses that are part of the The Old Hearts mission.
• End the journey by heading to the Abyss and conquering the final story-related enemy of Act 3.

Note: This ending closes the narrative started in Act 3 and serves as the “true ending” if you pursue the full story up to this point.

5. Mushroom Ending — Passing of the Age

Summary: An alternative ending related to the return of Mister Mushroom (an NPC from the previous game).

Main requirements:

• Find seven Mister Mushroom locations scattered across Pharloom.
• Talk to Mister Mushroom at each location in the correct order.
• After completing this sequence, defeat the final boss in the Abyss — essentially the same as the Sister of the Void ending.

Experimental note: The guide team found that they obtained Sister of the Void and Passing of the Age separately (having to defeat the final boss twice). There is no confirmed information yet whether both endings can be achieved simultaneously if the mushroom mission order is completed before defeating the boss for the first time.

Technical notes & general tips

• Saving & loading: After viewing part of an ending scene, reload your save file to try alternative endings — the game usually returns you to the last bench where the boss is undefeated.
• Use benches before tough fights: Many endings require challenging boss fights; always make sure to sit at a bench to manage inventory and upgrades.
• Secret endings often require extra exploration: Some endings (Silk and Soul, Passing of the Age) require completing side quests/quest chains spread out. Don’t ignore bounty boards and seemingly unimportant NPCs — they often hold keys to ending choices.
• Be prepared to replay bosses: If you want to collect all endings in one file, use the reload mechanic to try alternative endings without replaying the entire game.
