Shift Up Clarifies, Anime NIKKE Is Not Handled by Netflix!
The perfect word to describe the news about Shift Up from Eurogamer Portugal yesterday is shocking.
In addition to the accurate report on the release plans for Stellar Blade in 2025 and Project Witches set to launch in 2027, which are indeed included in Shift Up's latest financial report, this gaming media outlet also shared two pieces of information that cannot be found elsewhere. Eurogamer Portugal mentioned the adaptation of NIKKE into an anime supposedly being handled by Netflix, as well as Shift Up's plans to establish a new studio in Los Angeles. However, it turns out that both pieces of information have been confirmed as hoaxes!
After some time without clarification, Shift Up finally provided an official comment to GameSpark regarding the two confusing pieces of information. Shift Up clearly and firmly DENIED both claims. First, they have no plans to establish a studio in Los Angeles. Second, they also emphasized that it is not true that they plan to collaborate with Netflix for the anime adaptation of Goddess of Victory: NIKKE.
There is no further clarification on where Eurogamer Portugal obtained this information, and they have since revised their article to remove the hoax details. In my opinion, this situation is quite confusing and highlights the importance of verification before spreading news. Media outlets need to be more careful in conveying information, especially when it can impact a company's reputation. Hopefully, in the future, all parties can be more diligent to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
