Squid Game 2 is Said Not to Meet Fans' Expectations, There Are Several Points of Concern
The second season of the hit drama series Squid Game officially premiered on December 26.
The second season of the famous drama series, Squid Game, officially premiered on December 26. With new cast members such as Im Siwan, Kang Ha Neul, and T.O.P, Squid Game 2 brings a fresh atmosphere for its viewers.
However, unfortunately, many fans feel that this second season falls short of the high expectations set by the first season. Some of them believe that the early episodes feel slow, especially because of the heavy focus on the character Gi Hun played by Lee Jung Jae, who returns to plunge into this terrifying game for revenge.
Only when the games begin does the series start to feel interesting. In the second season, we are introduced to several new games, such as a new version of "Mugunghwa Blossom" and the "Group 5 Event" which successfully adds tension.
However, compared to the first season, the number of games in Squid Game 2 feels fewer, which disappoints some fans. Most of the games this season are also team-based, so the fate of the players heavily depends on teamwork.
One of the main criticisms from fans is T.O.P's performance, a former member of BIGBANG, who plays the character Thanos. Initially, many felt his character was less significant, but after airing, Thanos appeared quite frequently and was considered to disrupt the storyline.
T.O.P's awkward acting and strange behavior are seen as distracting from other characters. Director Hwang Dong Hyuk defended the casting decision of T.O.P, stating that he showed courage in taking on the role. However, many viewers began to doubt whether this was the right choice.
Despite shortcomings like the slow pacing and T.O.P's performance being seen as disruptive, Squid Game 2 still presents some thrilling moments once the games start, so it doesn't completely disappoint fans' hopes for this second season.
