Resident Evil 2 Director Wants Hideo Kojima to Make a New Horror Game Like P.T
Hideki Kamiya revealed his desire for Hideo Kojima to create another horror game with a scary atmosphere like P.T. that fans still remember.
Eleven years after the P.T. demo appeared and was then removed, the short but memorable legacy of the Silent Hills project is still a topic of discussion among developers and horror fans. Hideki Kamiya, director of Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry, is among those who still consider P.T. a brilliant example of what modern horror games can achieve, and he expressed his wish for Hideo Kojima to make something similar again.
Wants P.T. back or at least something similar
Kamiya mentioned that if a revival of P.T. is not possible, the best step is to ask Kojima to make a new game in the same style. However, if Kojima is not interested in returning to that kind of horror realm, Kamiya joked that he might try to realize it himself although he emphasized that he does not like horror.
Kamiya also expressed his deep admiration for P.T., while admitting that the demo was too scary for him to play alone. He mentioned another Japanese horror title, The Exit 8, which he feels tries to fill the void left by P.T. but only as a lighter version.
According to him, when he played P.T., there was a feeling that the developers were going to create something “truly clever”; whereas Exit 8 felt like a temporary substitute that did not fully meet expectations. This expression of disappointment also touched on Konami’s decision to cancel or withdraw P.T. from circulation, which disappointed many fans.
