Tinder now has a feature to filter potential matches based on height
Tinder is currently testing a new feature that lets paid users set specific preferences for their potential matches.

This news started trending after a Reddit user posted a screenshot showing a height setting in the online dating app.
According to a report by TechCrunch, a Tinder spokesperson confirmed that the screenshot of the height setting is indeed part of a global test. This feature is currently only available to some Tinder Gold and Premium users in various countries. Unfortunately, free users have not yet gained access to this feature.
Moreover, this setting feature is more about showing preferences, not to filter out or block profiles that don’t meet the criteria. So, the setting doesn’t directly block other profiles but rather helps suggest potential matches that align with the paid user's desired height.
“We always listen to what matters most to our Tinder users—and testing paid height preferences is a great example of how we build with urgency, clarity, and focus,” said Tinder’s Vice President of Communications Phil Price Fry in a statement via email, as reported by TechCrunch on Tuesday, May 29, 2025.
Although online dating apps usually offer options to filter people based on common factors like age, type of relationship sought, or interests, the presence of this height setting feature is considered quite controversial by some people. Some parties view this feature as a form of discrimination against someone’s physical condition. But according to Phil Price, this feature was actually created as a way for Tinder to provide more choices to users so they can more easily connect with each other.
“This is part of a broader effort to help people connect more intentionally on Tinder. Our new product principles guide every decision, and this one speaks directly to a few things: prioritizing user outcomes, moving fast, and learning quickly,” said Phil.
Tinder’s Vice President of Communications also emphasized that new features still in the testing phase are not necessarily going to be permanent features on the online dating app. This statement seems to be a response to concerns arising from the test of the height preference setting feature for potential matches.
