The latest rumor is that Leon and Jill will be the main characters in Resident Evil 9
According to Biohazard Declassified, they first learned about this from a playtester who participated in a playtest conducted by Capcom.
He stated that Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine will be the main characters in Resident Evil 9. The game will be set four years after Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil 9 will serve as the conclusion to the trilogy that began with Resident Evil 7 and continued with Resident Evil Village.
Several characters, such as Chris Redfield and Barry Burton, will appear as supporting characters. The playtester claimed that Capcom conducted two playtests, one in April and another in September. The first playtest in April featured Jill Valentine in an abandoned hospital, while the September playtest focused on Leon in a forest.
Some details about Jill and Leon: Jill Valentine will have a look similar to her appearance in Death Island, wearing more tactical clothing reminiscent of her outfit in Lost in Nightmares. As for Leon, he will be dressed in an outfit similar to the one in Damnation, but he will appear much older.
As for the plot, Jill from the BSAA and Leon from the DSO will investigate an island belonging to the company that created Eveline. Throughout their journey, Leon and Jill will become infected with Megamycte, and they will use Rosemary Winters' blood as a vaccine. It was also mentioned that Blue Umbrella will return and is likely to be involved.
He also mentioned that the enemies they will face are evolved zombies. Similar to the Ganados in Resident Evil 4, they will be armed with weapons.
The playtester also explained that these zombies will worship the moon and will have moon tattoos on their arms. Additionally, there is an antagonist named Mr. Simon.
There will also be a Stalker enemy that will follow Leon throughout the game, while Jill will face off against a creature known as Goatman.
