Capcom Says Kunitsu-Gami Sales Are Unsatisfactory

Capcom's decision to explore many of their famous franchises, from Dino Crisis to Onimusha, while they're on the rise and successful, has left many people questioning.

Capcom Says Kunitsu-Gami Sales Are Unsatisfactory

One interesting thing is that at least Capcom didn't give up trying various new ideas that are full of experiments and unexpected turns. Recently, that idea turned into a game titled Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. With a strong Japanese cultural feel, a unique tower defense-style combat, and a rather simple story, this game clearly represents a new experimental IP from Capcom with a smaller budget. Unfortunately, this game did not succeed as much as they had hoped.

This was conveyed by Capcom in a Q&A session with shareholders. Capcom proudly reported that Kunitsu-Gami received positive responses from media reviews and gamer scores. But unfortunately, those praises did not impact sales. Although they did not provide specific numbers, Capcom stated that Kunitsu-Gami sales were actually below their plans and expectations. They referred to this "failure" as occurring due to a lack of marketing and also a lack of effort to build hype before the game's release.

Meanwhile, the release of their other games like Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, and Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics matched their predictions, how about you? Are you one of the gamers who have tried Kunitsu-Gami?
