Cloud ten: Akimoto Yasushi's New Male Idol Group Officially Introduced
A new idol group named "Cloud ten" has been formed from the project to create a male idol "Theater Boys Group." A press conference was held in Tokyo on April 23, where the members selected through auditions were introduced to the public for the first time.
The project was launched last year as a collaboration between Y&N Brothers and the Mitsui Fudosan Group, with Yasushi Akimoto serving as general producer. A nationwide audition began last summer, followed by a final training camp audition from December to January, until the final member lineup was finalized in February.
A total of 30 members have been selected. The group includes members with high-level educational backgrounds, such as students from The University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, and Keio University. Furthermore, the members have diverse backgrounds—from the youngest member being a 13-year-old national dance champion, to a chef and an athlete who has competed in the National Sports Festival (Kokutai).
The chosen name for the group is "Cloud ten." The name takes inspiration from the term "Cloud nine" meaning supreme happiness, but with the added meaning of breaking through existing frameworks and limitations to reach an even higher happiness (beyond the number nine).
From April 26, the group will hold a series of introductory events at various commercial facilities in the Tokyo metropolitan area, starting with an event at Mitsui Outlet Park Yokohama Bayside, Kanagawa.
Additionally, a dedicated theater is scheduled to open on August 2 at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza. This theater will not only function as the group's main headquarters (home ground), but also as a place where fans can meet the members daily.
