Jensen Huang attended the launch event of Sahabat-AI
Some time ago, PT. Indosat Ooredo Hutchison collaborated with PT. Gojek Tokopedia to officially launch Sahabat-AI, an artificial intelligence built on a Large Language Model (LLM).
According to information we received from investors, Sahabat-AI was introduced at Indonesia AI Day 2024, held in Jakarta. The event was attended by Erick Thohir, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, Vikram Sinha, CEO of Indosat Ooredo Hutchison, and Patrick Walujo, CEO of GoTo.
The launch of this artificial intelligence is considered a significant milestone in strengthening digital capabilities in Indonesia while preserving the richness of local languages and cultural heritage. This AI not only utilizes the Indonesian language but also various regional languages.
Upon further investigation, we found that Sahabat-AI is supported by AI Singapore, Tech Mahindra from India, which leverages NVIDIA AI Enterprise applications, as well as several prestigious universities in Indonesia that help optimize this artificial intelligence to fit the local context.
The collaboration between Indosat and NVIDIA is reportedly set to be a long-term contract that will support the development of an AI ecosystem utilizing Merdeka GPUs.
The head of NVIDIA even stated, “The spirit of gotong royong in Indonesia demonstrates how industries, researchers, and the public sector can collaborate to drive progress,” while observing various sectors striving to refine AI with local wisdom.
