Sony Wants to Acquire KADOKAWA, right?
How many of you have heard the name Kadokawa?
This major multimedia company is indeed hard to ignore, especially for those of you who enjoy Japanese content, ranging from manga, anime, to video games. In the world of video games, Kadokawa has many cool game studios, one of which is From Software, known for top games like Sekiro and Elden Ring. In fact, it is reported that Kadokawa has at least 26 unannounced games, including several mobile projects. Just imagine, if Kadokawa becomes a part of Sony!
There hasn't been an official announcement yet, but this information comes from a fairly reliable site, Reuters. According to their sources, Sony is negotiating to acquire Kadokawa to expand their entertainment content portfolio, including video games. Reuters also stated that if this negotiation is successful, a purchase agreement could happen in the coming weeks.
Sony currently owns about 2% of Kadokawa and From Software shares. Now, the question is, will this news become a reality? If it really happens, do you consider this good or bad news?
